JURASSIC WORLD
Summed up as: The age of the reboot reaches new heights in this update of the Jurassic Park series, now with the park open and in full swing (perhaps the park runners didn’t catch the first three films).
Best Thing in the Trailer: The great white shark for dinner. Definitely the great white shark.
Don’t Miss: Young adult actor Ty Simpkins, of the Insidious films as well as Iron Man 3.
Worth seeing opening weekend? Yes, we’ll give it a whirl!
THE AGE OF ADALINE
Summed up as: Blake Lively gets her plum starring role in this Benjamin Button-esque tale of a woman who never grows old.
Best Thing in the trailer: How gorgeous this former Gossip Girl looks.
Worth seeing opening weekend? We are slightly intrigued.
PAN
Summed up as: An imaginative and original (we hope) origin story for the Boy Who Never Grew Up. Peter Pan is all the rage these days!
Most beautiful thing in the trailer: A tossup between Garrett Hedlund as a very young (and sexy!) Hook, and Rooney Mara’s mod makeup and headdress as Tiger Lily.
Don’t Miss: Newcomer Levi Miller as the aforementioned Boy.
Worth seeing opening weekend? It looks so far, so great!
SON OF A GUN
Summed up as:The Giver’s Brenton Thwaites gets mixed up with the wrong crowd (ie, Ewan McGregor) in this standard-looking crime extravaganza.
Best Line: “Look at you, all grown up…”
Weirdest thing in the trailer: How Brenton barely does any actual speaking on camera.
Worth seeing opening weekend? Pass.
PETER PAN LIVE
Summed up as: Musicals are about to (thankfully) go into overkill mode with these pretty terrible live telecasts, this one inexplicably starring Allison Williams (Marnie from Girls) as Pan.
Weirdest thing in the trailer: Christopher Walken, of course, doing his best Christopher Walken as Captain Hook.
Watch/DVR/Skip? This looks completely cringeworthy. But you have to DVR it.
SEVENTH SON
Summed up as: A teenager (Ben Barnes, aka Prince Caspian of the Narnia films) training to be an exorcist in the 1700’s unwittingly unleashes an all-powerful evil witch hell-bent on destroying humanity.
Don’t Miss: Kit Harington, of Pompeii and Game of Thrones fame.
Weirdest thing in the trailer: Jeff Bridges, naturally. We’re sure he’ll bring some comedy to the lofty proceedings here.
Worth seeing opening weekend? No thanks, but we are dying to see Julianne Moore as an evil sorceress!
PASS THE LIGHT
Summed up as: A high school-based political satire and slight fantasy, in which the gorgeous and well-adjusted jock takes a stand for the outsiders and runs for congress (yes, congress) against a hate-mongering right wing zealot.
Best thing in the trailer: The message of inclusion and tolerance, even if it is wrapped up in talk about God and the church.
Don’t Miss: LeadCameron Palatas, who has been in a ton of shows we love, from A.N.T. Farm to I Didn’t Do It.
Worth seeing opening weekend? The message of the sounds good, so yes to this one!
