top-5-book-to-film-scenes-we-cant-wait-for

Most people can count on (less than) one hand the amount of times a film adaptation trumped the book upon which it was based. More often than not, adaptations just can’t live up to their source material’s legacy, failing to encompass the sprawling story line and depth of character that an intimate narrative can provide. Nonetheless, there is something positively irresistible about seeing an iconic scene from within the story captured on camera. As the movie rights to more and more YA books are scooped up, sometimes even before they’re published, we’re taking a moment to focus on some scenes we can’t wait to see in the theater in their upcoming filmic iterations.

The Fault in Our Stars posterTFIOS – There are many scenes in the book that seem so personal, yet so grand, it’s interesting to see how they’ll be fleshed out on screen. One smaller moment is the ‘Circle of Virgins’—both when he draws it and when she draws it back.

THE GIVER – The furor has only just died down about the first trailer for this YA dystopian classic, which failed to include the Pleasantville-like aspect of color being seen and understood for the first time. We’re more than curious to see how they’ll film that red apple.

IF I STAY – It’s already in the trailer, so we know they’ve been faithful enough to the book to capture that incredible first date, and how the music of Yo-Yo Ma causes things to rise to the next level.

The Maze Runner imageMAZE RUNNER – The dread felt every time they enter the Maze never really lets up, but when Thomas heads in at night to save Alby and Minho, it is almost too much to handle.

MOCKING JAY, PART 1 – We’re definitely looking forward to seeing Peta’s arrival in District 13, and especially his…special guest greeting for Katniss.

PS: where in the heck should they split the last book up? How about just as they’re heading into the Capital…
